Dreaming the New Year
A Masterclass in Mythic Vision, Shadow Work, and Embodied Soul with David Bedrick
As the new year begins, we naturally pause to reflect. We look for a vision of the life to come—not just the steps we will take or the goals we hope to achieve, but the why and the how.
The Why: Your purpose, your calling, and your deeper soul-intent.
The How: Your attitude, your faith, and the way you carry your own woundedness—whether you walk with a limp or run with the graces bestowed upon you.
For time immemorial, indigenous cultures have looked to nighttime dreams for this understanding. Since the time of Carl Jung, we have rediscovered that dreams offer a mythic and mystical map of what is to come.
They are the wisest parts of us—divinely connected to spirit, earth, and stars. I invite you to join me for a special teaching designed to give you the key to these doors, allowing you to map your coming year through the intelligence of the night.
This masterclass is divided into five core pillars of dreamwork, designed to move you from intellectual understanding into somatic embodiment.
1. The "I" Behind the Mask
The poet Juan Ramón Jiménez wrote: "I am not I; I am the other one, the one who walks beside me." In your dreams, the "I" who is scared or acting is often just a persona—an ego-self or a traumatized self. You will learn how to find yourself in the other parts of the dream, reclaiming the hidden intelligence and power found in your shadow.
2. Beyond Association
Traditional psychology often stops at association—linking a dream lion to a fierce father or an abuser to an oppressive school system. We will use these associations as a powerful starting point to enter the dream's landscape.
3. The Shamanic Act: Somatic Embodiment
Association alone cannot help us embody the dream. You will learn to enter the "body" of a dream symbol. Whether it is a mountain, an animal, or a stranger, you will learn to move it, sound it, and find its music. This is a shape-shifting, shamanic act of transformation.
4. Dialogue & Parts Work
By facilitating a relationship between the different parts of your dream, you build a deeper relationship with yourself. This is the foundation for stepping into the New Year with self-love, self-trust, and soul-depth.
5. Life Guidance & Sovereign Intelligence
Finally, we look at the dream’s intelligence regarding your "conventional" life. What is the dream saying about your reality? We use the dream as a vehicle to drive Freud’s "Royal Road," leading you back to your own sovereignty and royalty.

David Bedrick is the author of The Unshaming Way, about which Gabor Mate wrote, ”In this astute work, David Bedrick provides a deep investigation of shame, the most debilitating of our mind states, and offers a workable, practice-based, and accessible path to divesting ourselves from it.”
Davidis a teacher, counselor, and attorney. He was on the faculty for the University of Phoenix for 8 years as well as the Process Work Institute in the U.S. and Poland. He is the founder of the Santa Fe Institute for Shame-based Studies where he educates therapists, coaches and healers. His embodied way of teaching goes beyond informational, students are regularly brought to tears and face to face with their beauty, power, life path and soul.
David’s passion for studying shame arose from his childhood, growing up with a father who used fists and belts to express his rage and a mother who coped by denying and gaslighting his experience. Forty years of research, teaching, and working with individuals awakened his heart and mind to how the dominant healing paradigm pathologizes people—sees people's suffering and symptoms as something to “fix" instead of messages that deepen our relationships with ourselves and the world around us. David’s unshaming way treats difficulties as invitations to insight, soul, and the divine unfolding of our lives.
David also writes for Psychology Today and is the author of three additional books: Talking Back to Dr. Phil: Alternatives to Mainstream Psychology and Revisioning Activism: Bringing Depth, Dialogue, and Diversity to Individual and Social Change, You Can’t Judge a Body by Its Cover: 17 Women’s Stories of Hunger, Body Shame and Redemption. His 5th book will also be published by North Atlantic Books and available early in 2026.
