Your teacher for this class
My deepest credential isn't my five books or my clinical training. It's that I know both harms — the violence, and the denial of it — from the inside.
David Bedrick, J.D., Dipl. PW · founder of the UnShaming Way

You were harmed twice.

When something terrible happens, we call it trauma. One word. But something is hiding inside that word.

The first harm was the event itself — the violence, the violation, the loss. It was real, and it needs nothing added to matter completely.

The second harm is what happened when you told — or couldn't tell. The denial. The dismissal. The gaslighting. The changed subject. The empty room. That second harm has gone unnamed for most people their entire lives — and it is the one that decides whether the first harm heals.

If you have ever told your story and felt worse afterward, and never understood why — this is why. And this masterclass is for you.

This is not a lecture about trauma.

It's the first session of trauma healing, actually given.

Most trauma education fills your head with theory. Most trauma treatment rushes toward reliving what happened — which, without the right foundation, can wound people again. We're going to do neither. In these two and a half hours, you will experience where real trauma healing actually begins: with the witness.

What we'll do together

Story first. Then the work, witnessed.

01

The reframe, carried by stories

Not theory-first — story-first. Including pieces of my own: I grew up in a violent home, with a father who used his belt and a mother who denied it as best she could. My deepest credential isn't my five books or my clinical training. It's that I know both harms from the inside.

02

The witness inquiry — a guided, embodied experience

Who did you tell? Who did you not tell — and why? Who would you never tell today? And where does the not-being-heard live in your body? I'll lead the whole group through this gently. You won't be asked to share anything, and we will not be going into the events themselves. We'll be mapping something almost no one has ever mapped for you: what happened around your story.

03

A live demonstration of the deeper work

I'll work with a volunteer, live, so you can watch what this approach actually looks like — how we step back from an overwhelming experience instead of diving into it, and what becomes possible from there: self-compassion, protection, power. People consistently say that watching this work is what makes it real. You'll see why.

04

The whole arc, glimpsed

Where this work goes from here — the map of complete trauma healing through the UnShaming lens — so you leave with orientation, not just an experience. And your questions, answered live: generous time for whatever the work raises in you.

Who this is for

Come as you are.

Anyone carrying something unwitnessed

You don't need to be a therapist, a client, or anything else. You need only the sense that something in your story never got received.

Therapists, coaches & healers

You'll experience the model from the inside and watch it demonstrated. Many of you have told me that watching the work is the training. Come watch.

A word about safety

We will not be reliving traumatic events. That's not caution — it's the model. Trauma healing that starts with reliving, before the witness foundation is built, can harm. Everything we do will be at the level of the witness: gentle, contained, and at your own pace.

You can participate with your camera off, share nothing, and take only what serves you. If your body says “enough” at any point, honoring that is not falling behind — it's the very skill we're teaching.

Where this leads

This masterclass is the doorway to the Trauma Clinic — a 7-week course, where we walk the entire arc: the witness work, the intelligence of dissociation, rebuilding agency, the inner critic, boundaries, and finally — safely, in the right order — the telling of the whole story to witnesses who receive it.

And it comes with you: everyone who attends receives a full $45 credit toward the Trauma Clinic. If you continue, this class is effectively free.

If you don't, you'll still leave with something complete — this was never a preview. It's a real training.

What people say about learning trauma work this way

In their words

These classes end up being like church by the end. People weeping, hearts and minds and souls blown open.

Gigi Azmy

I've been deeply impacted lately by the work of David Bedrick and his teachings on “The Second River,” the subtle relational field underneath every interaction. It's helping me understand all the moments I overrode my body's knowing in order to be accommodating, easy, or “not make waves.”

Stacy Raye Kellogg

The best teacher. Never stops standing in authenticity. This standing empowers me to inhabit and show up as a truer version of myself. When I do this, I pass it on to my own clients — the most magical kind of ripple.

Julie Wooly

It was like watching alchemy. I took so much from these demos and David's approach. I am so excited to learn more and do this work — it is real and it is deep.

Levi (she/her)

A deeply human experience and a gift to witness.

Laura

You are a true gatekeeper who lights the path of the soul, David. Thank you for your dedication.

Emma Collette Swan

I'm taking concurrent programs with the incredible David Bedrick on UnShaming Trauma and Abuse, and I've gotten so much out of it. I was so lucky to have the privilege of attending his 9-month Process-Oriented Facilitator training program in 2022, and it changed my life. I continue to learn about the wisdom of my body, about trauma, and about life, with a compassionate, brilliant mentor.

Stacy S.

Life changing — unlocked decades of issues.

Brilliant and tender listening, witnessing and holding.

Watching David work is so beautiful; it brings tears to my eyes.

It was incredible to witness the magic unfold during this masterclass. I was overcome with emotion. Thank you for showing us our own medicine.

Andrew

The environment you created felt like a cool breeze after a stretch of insufferable humidity.

Jenn

Unveiling our stories in a safe space shatters the chains of shame. My conversation with David was a total game-changer, marking a pivotal moment in my life.

Dorsan

From ashamed and imprisoned to spontaneous and alive.

David Bedrick

David Bedrick, J.D., Dipl. PW

David is the founder of the UnShaming Way — a depth-psychology approach built on one conviction: your symptoms, struggles, and survival strategies carry intelligence, not pathology.

He is the author of five books, including The Unshaming Way (North Atlantic Books), endorsed by Gabor Maté, MD. He has trained hundreds of clinicians and taught thousands of individuals. Before psychology, he practiced law; before law, he survived the home that taught him everything the books later confirmed. That is his deepest credential: he knows both harms — the violence, and the denial of it — from the inside. His work has appeared in Psychology Today and reaches hundreds of thousands of readers through his essays on trauma, shame, and the witness.
